PRIMAS FP7 project

During this scholastic year, the University of Malta, Faculty of Education, Department of Mathematics, Science and Technical Education in collaboration with the Curriculum Management and eLearning Department participated in an EU FP7 project called PRIMAS
The scope of this project is to promote inquiry-based learning in mathematics and science at both primary and secondary levels across Europe. In Malta, 5 secondary schools and 50 science and mathematics teachers participated and met regularly to discuss and implement aspects of enquiry based learning in Mathematics and Science. The participating schools were St Gorg Preca College BSS Hamrun, St Clare College GSS, Sandhurst, St Ignatius College GSS, Blata l-Bajda, St Ignatius College BSS, Handaq and St Clare College BSS, Sliema. This project will continue during the next scholastic year. More information about the project can be obtained from Dr Michael Buhagiar or Dr Josette Farrugia at the University of Malta. During the forthcoming Inset sessions, training in inquiry based learning will be conducted for all teachers of science subjects.
